Your Questions About Hotpoint Appliance Repair

Donald asks…

How expensive is it to fix the door on a hotpoint washing machine?

The door on my washing machine’s broken – it closes but won’t lock, which means the cycle won’t start.

It’s a hotpoint aquarius that I’ve had for just over 8 years so it’s well out of warranty. Is it going to be a simple and relatively inexpensive problem to fix, (if there is such a thing!) or will it just be easier to go get a new one?

James Conley answers: helped with our machine. Different problem but it was great for looking up parts.
And do a search on a few search engines with you specific model number, brand and problem.
It takes a while but I found a few videos of people doing similar repairs that helped a lot, then I knew what it was going to look like when I took it apart.
Then I bought parts locally yellow pages under appliance parts.
The time spent was worth it versus a service call.

Ruth asks…

replacing a thermostat control on a hotpoint RVA21V fridge?

My hotpoint RVA21VP larder fridge had stopped cooling, so traced the fault to the thermostat control. I have bought a new (genuine hotpoint) replacement part but when I try to fit the capillary tube into the small hole on the inside of the wall of the fridge it won’t slide in very far and starts to kink up and there is no way of trying to feed it through any other way. So my question is would it be alright if I secured the tube to the inside wall of the fridge and obviously not drilling or attaching screws to the back wall of the fridge. if the tube was just laying close to the back wall of the fridge would it still sense the change in temperature? and operate the control ?

James Conley answers:

==== your best answer is going to be from the Hotpoint 800 line and the technical services == unless you get an answer from a local or knowledgeable “” appliance hospital”” or repair shop == could be that you get a repairman to properly fit the thermo-control and have it working correctly ……

Chris asks…

Why does our Microwave sound louder and no longer heats?

We have a 6 yr old “Hotpoint” Microwave. It makes a loud humming noise when power is pressed and doesn’t heat. Can you give some ideas?

James Conley answers:

The magetron has burned out, unless you are handy repairing appliances you will not be able to replace it. And for what a repair center will want to charge you, you may as well buy another oven. Fan and light still work I’ll bet
