Hotpoint Oven wont stay on…I have a Hotpoint Gas range/oven. Stove & Broiler work but oven wont go on?
Its a top of the over broiler, gas range. Broiler works, stovetop works but oven wont come on. Any Ideas? Not sure where to start.
James Conley answers:
I once had a gas oven that had an overhead broiler and it had two pilot lights so if one of the thermocouples were not working the pilot light would not work. The other possibility may be the gas valve that turns on the oven. Either way if you don’t know anything about repairing gas appliances leave it to the professionals to fix. You could blow up your house! Even better if you rent it is your landlord’s responsibility. Call your energy company and see if they have a maintenance plan if so sign up and wait a day and then call for repair.

Hotpoint dishwasher will not drain water?
I have a hotpoint dishwasher ADW1100N10WW that will not drain. We have checked the drain line to make sure there is not plugs. Is there a way to test the drain pump to see it that is the problem ? The dishwasher is just over 1 year old and not under warranty. Don’t want to replace it if it’s a easy fix. Any ideas ???

Hi Lynnie, this is Mike with The Home Depot.
You said the drain line is clear, so let’s talk about other possible causes. A common problem with dishwashers are the accumulation, of debris in the drain system. Broken glass, food particles, bits of broken plastic etc. This junk can block to drain and even cause the impellers on the pump to break off causing an even greater clog. Remove the screen at the bottom of the tub,and carefully check for debris.
If the drain is clear, the problem may be in the drain valve solenoid. This solenoid triggers the pump to drain the water at the appropriate time during the cycle. If this solenoid is ok, the problem could be in the timer. I have included a link to www.appliance repair.net . This is a great troubleshooting resource. Take a look at it and see if it can help you solve your problem.
I hope this information is useful to you.

how do i get the top off my hotpoint cdt80p tumble dryer?
for some reason my tumble dryer keeps tripping electric and wont go back on? i read there is reset things inside but i cant seem 2 get the thing apart lol..
James Conley answers:
Hi Kristy, this is Mike with The Home Depot.
If your dryer is constantly tripping the breaker, then there is problem with the dryer that a reset switch is not going to help. You did not mention if this is a gas or electric dryer. And the model number you listed did not come up on the GE Appliances website.
There are two possible reasons for the breaker to trip. One there is a problem with the dryer’s electrical circuits, causing the dryer to draw more amperage than the circuit breaker allows tripping the breaker. Or there is a problem with the actual breaker itself.
If your dryer is an electric model, it will have a very large plug with flat prongs which operates on a 230 volt circuit. This is very high voltage and can cause you serious harm if you attempt to check out the circuit yourself. I recommend you call an appliance repair service to check out the dryer and the circuit.
If it’s a gas model, it will have a conventional size plug. This is a 115 volt circuit. If this is the case you can test the circuit by plugging in a lamp or other device to test if the breaker trips or not. If the test trips the breaker then you need to call an electrician to repair it. If the test item does not trip the breaker then the problem is most likely in the dryer and you will have to call an appliance repair service.
If you are unsure of what to do then by all means call an appliance repair service.
An appliance repair bill is much easier to handle than a trip to the emergency room!
